Mrs. Blaikie

Mrs. Blaikie was connected with the Girls' Home, 9 Lauriston Lane, in Edinburgh, Scotland. She sent girls to Canada with Miss Macpherson as early as 1872 and continued sending them when Miss Bilbrough took over Marchmont home.

Since the records for Marchmont are now in the care of Barnardos you can write to this organization for information. Enquiries about children can be sent to these addresses.

You must include as much information as possible. Inquiry forms are available from the National Archives of Canada. Although Barnardos does not charge for this service a donation would be welcomed. Please note that the records from Marchmont are not as complete as those for Barnardo children.

There is material available at the University of Liverpool, Social Work Archives, however, they will not answer queries so you would have to pay them a visit.
